09 - Não existem Japoneses treinando na Bujinkan!

Também não é verdade. Existem centenas de estudantes japoneses na Bujinkan.

Esse argumento é usado normalmente para se defender que a Bujinkan é um engodo criado para extorquir dinheiro dos ocidentais ingênuos e que isso seria do conhecimento geral, ou de facil reconhecimento, do público japonês.

A Bujinkan sempre foi uma escola preocupada em elevar suas escolas de ninjutsu a posições em que estas pudessem sobreviver. Acontece que todo o folclore em volta do ninjutsu, que só pode sair das sombras com a extinção do sistema de castas, dificultava demais o contato com o público japonês de forma que Takamatsu começou a considerar o ensino a estrangeiros como forma de salvar a herança de sua família, política esta que Hatsumi deu continuidade e que acabou resultando em um feliz efeito colateral: os japoneses viam ocidentais treinando ninjutsu e diziam para si, "ah, então isso é ninjutsu? Não são guerreiros cavalgando sapos gigantes?"

Por causa da grande repercursão ocidental acerca do ninjutsu, aliado a uma longa e bem sucedida campanha interna de resgate da verdadeira imagem dessa arte, o ninjutsu passou de atividade marginal e execrável para um componente inestimável da cultura japonesa que carecia de atenção urgente.

Na década de 60 o ninjutsu era uma nódua do aparato bélico tradicional do Japão. ninjas eram considerados bruxos demoníacos, traiçoeiros e saguinários, hoje, em meados da primeira década do segundo milênio, o ninjutsu é motivo de orgulho para o Japão, sobretudo para as regiões onde tradicionalmente havia concentração de escolas ninja.

Na década de 60 e 70, a quantidade de praticantes da Bujinkan era mínima, as aulas eram ministradas na casa do próprio Hatsumi soke e até o aparecimento de Doron Navon, regularmente só haviam japoneses nas aulas. Hoje, muitos desses praticantes dessa época viraram professores e todos eles tem um grande número de praticantes Japoneses, mas o fato de os estrangeiros terem preferência por orbitar o soke quando vão ao Japão treinar, dá a impressão nas aulas super-lotadas do hombu dojo, de que a Bujinkan só tem estrangeiros.

Entendendo o preconceito

Para terminar esse argumento gostaria de traçar um paralelo com o nosso país.

Quando eu era pequeno, lá no início da década de 80, ví uma roda de capoeira e achei genial aquele pessoal pulando e cantando. Imediatamente pedi para o meu pai que me levasse à uma escola de capoeira. O velho engasgou e me explicou que aquilo era uma atividade de desocupados e marginais, que não era coisa para um "menino de família" como eu. Não entendia porquê.

Passou o tempo (eu entrei para o karatê naquela época) e a medida que eu ia aprendendo mais história e lendo mais livro, fui entendendo melhor as raízes daquele preconceito que meu pai manifestou. A capoeira era a arte marcial dos escravos e geralmente ela era usada contra feitores, polícia ou outros agentes que os oprimiam. Acontece que esses agentes que oprimiam os escravos, geralmente trabalhavam para particulares ou para o estado, em suma, para pessoas que incluenciaram o pensamento social do Brasil fortemente. Dessa forma, os feitores e polícia eram vistos como mocinhos e qualquer um que fosse contra esses agentes só poderiam mesmo ser bandidos.

E foi assim que que a arte do negro perseguido, indefeso e desesperado virou aos olhos de nossa sociedade, uma arte para malandros e marginais.

Com o ninjutsu ocorreu o mesmo, não que os ninjas tenham sido perseguidos como os escravos ou fossem indefesos como eles, mas pelo fato de que a casta dominante ter também o direito de escrever a história. Ora, o ninjutsu é a antítese do pensamento da casta samurai, não é de se estranhar que fosse visto com maus olhos. Aliando-se a isso, existe a desconfortável situação de "precisar e temer os ninja ao mesmo tempo" como foi apontado pelo historiador Stephen Turnbull no livro "ninja- 1640" (Osprey) que desconcertava os bushi. Era praticamente impossível se fazer à guerra sem o apoio de um time de ninjas ao menos e era preocupante a independência social que aqueles homens representavam. Não havia forma de um samurai ver com bons olhos uma classe de homens que viviam a margem das leis e imposições sociais e o resultado é que o ninja foi condenado socialmente a uma posição difamada, apesar de ter lutado tanto quanto qualquer samurai da época.

Tanto o ninja como o capoeira sofreram a difamação das classes mais capazes que as deles.
